Some observations
The Vosseler
is not for the faint hearted and never will be.
The Met
Office got the rain forecast wrong. It pissed down during the 10k race (and for
a couple of hours afterwards) when it should have been clearing up
Sarah
Drought (WHAC) destroyed the field in the 5km race, repeating the 2022 race
Didn’t Ali
Wilson (Scottish) do well. Second behind
Sarah D
Max Doherty registered as MU18 led the 10km race up the long uphill section to the first road crossing past the velodrome.
Somebody
should tell Des Young (WHAC) that the Vosseler is actually a cross country race. Desmond hates cross country.
Josh Jordan
(Trentham) won the 3km junior race and to celebrate did a victory lap or two by
racing the 10km.
Bert was
there. But where was Ben? There is no
show without Ben
Doogie Thorburn (Scottish) shows that he still has it on the rough and tough courses.
Looking for
an easy race and not out to win Nathan Tse (WHAC) had to settle for 2nd:.
Lots of new
faces
Brian
Farrelly (former Scottish), a blast from the past, made an appearance as a spectator
at the road crossing, for a mighty 120 seconds.
The "Tricoteuse" at the
road crossing were in fine form, but only the competitors struggling up the long
climb before the right turn down can decide which one of the vocal mob was
Madame Defarge. Although I nominate Bob Stephens.
What
mud?
Warning: The photos below do
not show anybody who did a face plant, gave a slip sliding away dance or basically
came to grief by losing balance. For those kinds of images you will need to scrutinise
the portfolio of the “evil” Sharon Wray who would have patiently lay in wait
for such tabloid opportunities.
