Marshall Hall |
This Mini Meeting was a low key event by any standard. Because most of the regular centre officials
were in Whanganui for the National Combined Events Champs the programme at
Newtown Park was managed with volunteer manpower on a do it yourself basis.
The entry numbers were also relatively low and for some
events there were none at all.
As a
surprise though Marshall Hall the current Auckland based national Senior Men’s
discus champion came to town to do a bit of biffing.
Marshall faced some stiff competition from Peter Jack and
his mates but managed to get out to around 59 metres or so, His best is about 64.5
metres.
The most popular event of the day was the 800m. The reason for this is that the McEvedy Shield and other high school T&F competitions are coming up in a few weeks so this was a good opportunity to test fitness over this distance.
